Vulcan gas checks

I ran out of 8MM gas checks. I did not realize I had shot that many cast bullets in the Mauser. Anyway, I ordered 1,000 Vulcan aluminum gas checks to try. They were 28 bucks with shipping.

Anyone tried them before? I can't think of a reason they would not work just fine for the 2,000 FPS maximum I shoot cast bullets.

  If its and old dark bore war horse I think you will be ok.
  
  Aluminum forms an oxide almost immanently. That oxide layer is tough enough to scratch glass. I will not use aluminum in a good rifle bore. I have considered getting a gas check maker. For now I just slow them down and shoot them barefoot for trigger time.
