Mr. Cool Hand: Your not a southerner , so you have no clue what is excepted in the deep south....When this region was being settled before slavery became a issue, some people did have mixed children....read the book "Foxes Of Harrow"...Jerimiah Johnson!...on and on... The Klan is depicted as a cruel organization that was founded to kill and terrorize blacks.....but they killed and terrorized whites, mulattos etc. if they got out of line...Our history is here in the South , not New Jersey...we have coon asses in La. that are of mixed blood, but have been accepted as a culture...I could say you are a Gypsy , but I don't know your heritage,or even if you have one.....but we do...is it my fault there maybe be North African in my DNA? (most likely Barbary Coast)...no kinky hair like the Equatorial Africans.....We have a Heritage , some people don't...my wifes folks came over from Ireland in the 1830's...County Cork.. The O'Duff Clan...
Your reply's to our argument are totally off topic and nonsensical, I try to make some sense of your writing but I cant so I guess I'm out on this one.0 -
Confederate Heritage as compared to Southern Heritage?
The Confederate States of America was, in many ways, the last great effort for the realization of the original American Dream; and Government of, by, and for the people. (Sorry, Abe, your cynical claim to the contrary falls flat and emphasizes the great Constitutional tragedy that was the Civil War.
That said, Confederate Heritage seems a bit silly. The heritage of the Confederacy is 5 years of strife in a noble, yet failed, effort for independance. It is a period worth noting and respecting for what it is, but I fail to see it as 'heritage'.
Southern Heritage is a different matter, and it includes the complete tapestry, positive and negative, of the developement of a unique and immensely important part of the American experiance.
Celebrate the Confederacy for the liberty movement that it was. Heritage, however, is much deeper than those five years.0 -

ohh dear, this thread is sooooo racist!!
....since when is heritage racist?....We have streets and monuments all over the nation honoring a philandering , socialist Preacher....why shouldn't I have rights?
When racism is part of the heritage.
What is racism?.....Something that bothers you?....are you black? Please tell us why?[:o)]
pwillie, whether I am black or not would have nothing to do with the accuracy of my observation.
That expresses, part and parcel, the very definition of racism.
It has nothing to do with what I like, or not.
And it does not matter what you like, or not, either.
Thoughts stand by themselves, regardless of the person who expresses them.
I have already discussed my dna in these forums, if you are that eaten up with it you can search and satisfy your morbid curiosity, but I simply won't pander to such ridiculous queries.
so, you admit being a colored person?....I thought so ,your bible toting gave you away...0 -

The Confederate States of America is and always be apart of my heritage....They are one in same...Would this post have been kicked to politics if it was only about being raised in the south by southerners?...Why doesn't the North have a heritage? After all they won the war. I don't ever see anything about the Great Freedom Fight , and never have heard a colored person say that they appreciate all the blood that poured from Northern veins to support their freedom....fast forward, all you will ever hear is about Dr. King and his freedom marches where blacks were beaten , thrown in jail! How many laid down their lives? Colored Troops? Yes at the beginning of the end of the war, Lincoln decided to use Colored Troops because of the heat he was catching for all the white troop deaths...Never see any celebrations about the Grand Armee of The Potomac...0 -

The heritage of the North is the heritage that is the USA.
The Declaration of Independence is a part of it.
The Revolutionary War is a part of it.
The Civil War, WW1, The Great Depression, WW2, landing on the moon, and on and on.
There is no one event that creates a heritage, rather heritage is a sum of the totality of he events a people have experienced. You obviously missed where I stated what I believe was lost during the Civil War. It's OK, it was probably too much to expect anyway.
There were celebrations of the Army of the Potomac for decades after the War. These men even invited their former enemies to participate. Many did. If you are interested in heritage, history is always a good place to start.0 -

My heritage is American. I am probably 1/2 Irish, 1/4 German, and 1/4 Norweign, but it is not 100% clear the. My paternal grandmother was 100% Irish.
I identify with none of those countries or cultures except on March 18, the month of October and and some every now and then some slimey fish food and potato tortillas during the holidays. My heritage is what it is. I had no control of it so I see no reason to feel pride. I embrace the heritage that is the country in which I was born and choose to live, but that is about it.0 -

Paul set aside that approach, counting it as "filthy rags".
An interesting word study, that term translated "filthy".
Wonder where he got that idea ?
Just whom do you serve, pwillie ?
