The most interesting political topic right now is a replacement for Antonin Scalia. Should Obama appoint a replacement? If the Senate says DOA-- McConnell-- should he try a recess appointment? Should it wait for the next President, no matter who?

  If you mean nominate, then yes. That is within to duties of the President.

  A recess appointment is also within his options. I feel his choice of a recess appointment would be fatal to the Democrat party in November.

  I think it should wait. It should be one of the major considerations in November. The candidates should ALL be asked for their short list (not someone in the manner of......that is BS) of names.
  If they can't give one name then they are:
  A. LYING and just don't want it public.
  B. Too shallow to hold the office of President.

  Good points, Casper. I'm not sure a President can make a recess appointment to any Federal court. The nature of the job is too different from, say, head of an agency. As I recall, the Constitution reads "nominate with the advice and consent of the Senate." In other words, it does not appear a judge could act until approved.
