Recoil Sear Shotguns - sxs or o/u
I believe that there is probably more than two of us with "recoil sear" shotguns. Do you have a "recoil sear" shotgun and have you put snapcaps or fired shell cases in the chambers and "fired" the shotgun??? Since there was no recoil the other barrel's trigger is not set. Did you try pushing the barrel selector to the other barrel to see if it would "fire"???
If you did and it worked - I would be interested to know the brand and model of the shotgun. If you have one and tried switching the barrel selector and the second barrel "fired" - please post the information here so I can add that specific shotgun information to the notes in "The Standard Catalog of Firearms" and "The Blue Book". Many Thanks - AQH

My Browning Superposed Broadway and Anschutz Miroku (Citori cousin) will shift to the other barrel after a misfire or snap just by flipping the safety on and off, no need to move the selector. 0 -
I have a 20 ga. Stoeger Condor Supreme with the recoil sears. I did check and after firing the top barrel the bottom won't fire unless i move the selector to the rear on S (safe) than slide it right and than up to the 2nd barrel indicator and it will fire. Thanks I didn't know that. When I got the gun i emailed the company thinking I have a defective gun, they told me to bounce the buttstock on the floor to reset the sear for the second barrel.....which is a little more quicker, and works. 0 -
There are too many out there to mention. Most unexspensive guns are recoil sear sets, and some of the very expensive ones are. 0 -
I have a Merkel 20ga o/u that was made in 1956. With snap caps in, safety off, pull trigger, fires, pull again and fires again. Is single select trigger. I also have a Beretta 687eell that was originally an inertia set trigger. Sent it to Briley and they converted it to a mechanical trigger to shoot the small gauges in tubes. 0 -
"they told me to bounce the buttstock on the floor to reset the sear for the second barrel..."
I heard a not so funny story about this procedure several years back. A guy as shooting trap with his fancy _ _ _ _ shotgun using the "second barrel" so he did the "butt bump" for every shot. Then one day, the "butt bump" resulted in the second barrel firing a load of 7 1/2 shot past his head and splitting the beautiful stock.0
