Crown with a W in the middle marking
Does anyone know what this mark is. Or where its from. Would figure England. After going over my Colt Commando pistol with a magnifier. there is what looks like a crown with a W inside it just above cylinder release. In place that usually has flaming bomb marking. Its a little faint. not a really good strike.

"Crown W" is a Dutch,(Netherlands), military proof mark. The "W" was for Wilhelmina, who was Queen during the first half of the 20th Century.
The Dutch bought both revolvers and pistols from Colt. During the 30's, until the German invasion and occupation in May 1940. Saw a Dutch contract, OP years ago at a show. It had a high polish commercial finish, and was chambered for the British 38/200 cartridge. The proof mark was just a Crown. Don't remember if there was a "W" inside the crown?0
