The easy way is to contact the new stock of choice manufacture and ask them to set you and your rifle up. Inletting isn't all that hard, if you have some tools. At least you can patch the fiberglass and it will not look bad if you screw it up, because you can paint over it.

When I updated my split 600 Remington factory wood laminated stock, that had been re-chambered to 45-350 RM. I opted for the fiberglass blind box magazine; which makes for a far stronger stock and eliminated that crappy plastic trigger guard/floor plate. They made the whole area around the action without a foam filler for added strength, IIRC they even added some Kevlar fabric in that area.

    varian,

Major suppliers are not equipped to answer each and every questions about product details. You usually have to ask those that specialize in very specific stocks.

Trying to find an aftermarket stock made specifically for the M700 detachable box magazine system will be difficult at best since it was a very short lived alteration from the factory. Aftermarket manufacturers are unwilling to sink their cash into a short supply factory model. There's not enough return. I found one such as you're looking for from McMillan but in a benchrest style stock, not a hunter version. McMillan can make one for you obviously but it will take about 6 months and cost in excess of $465.00 without extras.

If you can work with another style of DBM, I can suggest either Magpul or ProMag Archangel for replacement stocks at reasonable prices. These two manufacturers have created unique systems for DBMs of their own design in very comfortable stocks.

I cannot recommend using any Hogue aftermarket stocks as they are flimsy in the forearm and therefore not accurate.

Bell and Carlson, along with HS Precision, make decent aftermarket stocks for the Remington M700 but you have to use an aftermarket DBM system not the factory Remington. These can become pretty pricey unless you shop around.

    Best.
