? on a Luger
I have a Luger in 9mm that's marked BYF, yet is double stamped 1918 and 1920, a serial #7459, and I can't find a Waffenampt. Not knowing what I have, I'd be interested is someone giving me a clue.

It a parts gun, that has been assembled. With original parts used on different Lugers, from both the First and Second world wars.
The receiver that marked 1918 & 1920. Was originally made in 1918. Than was used by the post W W I German army. Called the Reichweir, when the 1920 date was applied.
During the Second World War. Almost all German military equipment, was marked with a 3 letter code. BYF was the code used by the Mauser factory. Used on the Lugers they made.0 -
The more I look at this, the more I think it's been rebuilt/worked three times. Once in 1920, again during WWII, and again sometime after WWII. Looks like I have a nice shooter. 0 -

Even "shooter" Lugers, are worth good money nowadays. Long as it, isn't a bubbaed, rusted out piece of junk. Even being mismatched. If it grades out as being in VG condition. Probably worth at least $500.
Went to a big show last week. Very few Lugers to be seen. Those that were being sold. Were valued by their sellers, on par with the crown jewels of England.0 -
For what it is worth I see a lot of Lugers at the Tulsa show. Very rarely is any asking less than $1000. 0
