yes the training aids are very good I had one called beam hit
years ago also nothing beats Dry Fire but don't try that with any 22 rim fire guns a 1911 type pistol is best as to those don't damage the pistol lay a coin on top of slide and see if it falls off when hammer is dropped if you get good you can put coin on edge and if you your last name is zines you can use a Dime as your coin on edge[:0]

Thanks, actually I am thinking of purchasing this system to use in my basement as it uses a laser to hit an electronic target. I belong to a local club here on Cape Cod and take advantage of their programs.

+1 for the coin trick, also works on long guns.
I have a barrel incert device for a 1911. It has a spring loaded plunger that flys out a few inches and put a pin prick in the paper. It uses the firing pin/hammer drop for power. When you can place 10 marks in one ragged dot "." it's a good sign you have mastered sight picture and trigger control.
Learning to deal with recoil requires actual shooting IMHO, lots of shooting in fact.
The old primer powered CCI plastic bullets in 38, 44 and 45 were/are good short range training.0
