Imported 8 Shot Semi-Auto Shotguns
I always thought the limit for imported shotguns was 5 shot so they could be deemed sporting guns.
However there is for sale an 8 shot Khan A-Tac semi auto now. This is a true Semi mot the hybrid pump / semi they have.
How can an 8 shot be okay now?
Thanks.

Just a WAG. It is imported as a 5 shot. The extension is added, when it gets to the US. 0 -
So altering it after it's here is okay. I always thought 922R had something to do with not being able to add extensions to shotguns like this. 0 -

My guess is, that if they don't actually sell the extensions mounted on the shotgun it's legal. If you choose to buy a extension separately, after buying the shotgun. It also would be legal.0 -
That was repealed in 2004.
Even 1994-2004, it was legal to import because it had only 1 "strike" against it. (It didn't also have a folding stock, a pistol grip, or accept a detachable mag.)

In about 2009, My godson bought a Browning A5 Rhodesian combat shotgun from a shop in Pensacola. it was like a standard A5 until the barrel. The wood forearm went from the receiver to the end of the 18inch barrel. It's 8 or 9 shot, don't remember. 0 -
922r has to do with how many American made parts the gun has. It had to do with detachable magazines, and their capacity, not fixed tube magazines. 0
