    Strange, one www says Krags topped out at 477762, Flayderman says 480000.

    With that serial number. That is hundreds of thousands higher, then known serial numbers, (480,000), in my reference.

    You have two things as a explanations, as I see it. Either someone for some reason has stamped/added addition numbers to the original serial number.

    Or it was one spare parts guns, that Bannerman assembled. After the U.S. Army adopted the 03. And sold all the parts, on the surplus market.

    Mystery solved. I used a magnifying glass. The serial # is actually 335097! I might need new glasses!

    Either road, made in 1901.

    Any originality (& collectibility) are long gone: has commercial rear sight conversion, serious rust issues, & drilled/tapped barrel.
    For just a shooter rig, I might be interested as-is.
