?? on Brass Shotgun Shells
Could anyone offer a best guess on old a couple of brass shells would be?
One is head stamped UMC Co No. 12. The other is stamped Winchester No. 12.

Just curious as to how old they might be and what,if any, value. 0 -
Factory rounds will be worth more than reloads or empties. A lot were made for WWI in the trenches - they didn't swell from the water and would work in the pump shotguns of the day.
They existed before the war - likely nearly as long as brass cartridge guns.

Thanks for the insight..all 3 of the shells (2 UMC, 1 Winchester) are empties...cant even remember where I found them....just seeing if they were worth anything..thanks again. 0 -
Not much interest in empties. Full boxes of live rounds are another matter.
What you have would be whatever the scrap value of brass would be.0 -
I've seen these sell at gun shows for about $2 ea. 0 -

Somebody is making them again I think for the BP shooters in the old guns. My BIL ordered some from a place in Texas for his old gun . He said that they were pricey. 0 -
There is a market for brass shotgun shells but like everything else rarity is a premium. Winchester and UMC are the most common and 12 gauge the most common as well. 28, 32, 410 are more desirable and Parker made ect will bring quite a bit more money. The one on the left is a 8 gauge and they will bring quite a bit more. There is also a 28 gauge in there.
