Screw size for scope base

I have several Redfield scope base for the Remington 600 Mowhawk, i do not have any mounting screws. Can any one tell me the correct screw size for these mounts. I think they are 6-48 threads. no idea of the length. I believe they are the Redfield 600 Jr.

  They are 6x48. If you get longer ones you can measure the length and grind to fit. I see lots of barrels where the screws have been pressed into the barrel threads. Hard to tell if the base is correctly tightened.
