I don't think it will work correctly with actual black powder. IMHO you need a thinner lube like Crisco or "Spit Patch" to help keep the actual fouling soft. With fake black powder it might work.

I mostly shoot real black and when I do use American Pioneer I just use "Spit Patch" applied to the bullet right before loading if its hot out. Cold out I can lube them ahead of time.

I didn't see the TC stuff for sale in the tube but Lee has a lube that looks correct. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/675441/muzzle-loader-originals-precision-lube-2000-black-powder-patch-lubricant-4-oz-jar

Oh I guess they call it "Bore Butter" now. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1073416017/thompson-center-natural-lube-1000-plus-bore-butter-tube

TC had a gizmo that screwed onto the tube as a sizer lubricator or you could buy or make one like this unit. https://www.patmarlins.com/introducing-the-new-pocketluberbp-bullet-luber/

Part of the job of the lube is to keep the powder fouling soft. Once the LEE liquid dries, it can't do that.

I have been shooting BP for some time and subscribe to the premise you want to get as much lube as you can on your bullets.

BP lube is designed to keep the burnt powder residue soft thus improving accuracy for your next shot and making the barrel easy to clean, like Mobuck said. I would not use the lee Alox for any BP shooting.

All my cast bullets are lubed with SPG.

I put a stack of patches in a plastic butter tub, put a very generous squeeze of Bore butter on and set it in the sun. I soon have pre-lubed patches.
