Springfield Trapdoor Sear

What is the difference in the 2 Position and 3 Position Sear for the
Springfield Trapdoor?
Also what year or Model was the change made.

Good Question for the experts.

  The sear had nothing to do with 2 vs 3 notches, that was the tumbler. The 3rd notch was added to the sear at about #78,000 for rifles, and #20,000 for carbines.
  
  Photos of your sear appears to have angle to the nose which was a late change around 1886.

  I mean the 3rd notch was added to the tumbler, not the sear.
