magazine pouches
A friend told me he had seen an original leather WW1 double pouch for .45 mags. If these existed, who were they issued to? I've never heard of them, but there are repos of them available.

My guess would be they probably were issued to officers to wear with their dress uniforms. 0 -
I seem to recall my father having these leather pouches in both black and white...
If memory serves me he obtained them while serving as a military police NCO in the post war US army inside the continental United States...
I don't think that they are uncommon - more likely pre WWII...
Once wartime production ramped up and efficiencies were required the canvas pouches became more profligate and we're certainly cheaper and faster to produce...
I am not an expert - I wait with some anticipation for someone with more knowledge to weigh in and opine - educate us.
