I sold this magazine to a man, advertising it as a Charter or other AR-7 magazine. He called and said it doesn't seem to fit his AR-7, which is about 40 years old. Very similar, but dimensionally maybe a bit wider so it won't go into his magazine well. Does anyone know if they have had various versions over the many years? I offered of course to take it back and refund his money, but I would like to sell it, I don't need it, it might serve someone else, and I'd like to know the differences with these.

I had one of the Charter Arms, Explorer II's, (pistol version of the AR 7). Made back in the 80's. When I got it, wasn't functional. Magazines seemed to fit. But I had to do a lot of tinkering, to get it to work.

Didn't seem as it had been test fired, or any quality control prior to leaving the factory. If your bidders, AR 7 is a Charter? Don't doubt, that there might be dimensional problems.

FWIW, I have a Winchester 1907 and sometimes magazines, especially aftermarket, don't fit and require more than a few file swipes to enter the magwell. I have a 1918 BAR and original an magazine "everyone said" was for it didn't fit, turned out they were for a Belgian version & had a prominent "X" stamped on each side IIRC.

My own recent experience with a Mauser 1910 in 25 ACP was an interesting mix of "what it's for" and "why doesn't it fit?"

I have never liked or had any use for those 22 autoloader's. None of the AR-7, Charter ... work correctly for long. They are nice and light plus compact to carry - accurate & reliable not so much.
