VZ-58 problem

I have a century VZ 2008 version of the VZ58. The problem is the safety will not turn, the trigger goes all the way to the rear without dropping the hammer. I have tried to get the top cover off without success to see what is going on. I am afraid to put too much force on it. Any suggestions as to how to proceed. I assume something is jammed or out of place but can't get in there to see. Thanks

  When GOOGLEing, using this search term. "fixing century arms vz-58", bunch of stuff comes up. You might find something, regarding the problem(s) with yours?

  About month ago, had the opportunity to buy one of the Israeli Galils. That Century Arms built, on US made receivers. After they were banned, from importing the real McCoy. It came from a estate, and it appeared brand new. I was sorely tempted. But it being Century Arms product, I passed on it.

  Finally got the top cover off, put everything back together and it seems fine. No idea what happened.
