Discontinued H&R parts
Looking for a replacement mainspring for my H&R 22 special 9 shot revolver. Any suggestions on where to find parts.

It helps to know the model. Coil springs are easy to find/adapt, the special part at the end to fit the hammer not so much. Flat springs are harder to make/form/fit, having the broken one as a pattern helps a lot.
H&R parts here, sometimes they have schematics which helps

Owned one, for a short time. Like Charlie notes, going to be tough to come by. If GPC doesn't have any? Might contact Bob's Gun Shop, in AR. He's been dealing in parts for years.
As the 22 Special, is of pre W W II manufacturer. Only likely, to get your hands on a mainspring. If H & R used the same spring, on their other revolver models.0 -
Thanks for your help, it's in great shape given its age i'd hate to see it laid to rest over such a fixable problem. 0 -
Or Jack First has obsolete parts. 0 -
I've got some flat springs if you can provide more information. 0 -
If it is a flat spring and you have the pieces, you could try silver soldering them together. I did that twenty-five years ago and it still flexes. If a coil spring, a hardware spring may fit and work. 0 -
PawnAP,
Yes, Bob's Gun Shop should have it, though you need to e-mail him, and he will, eventually, get back to you. I figure that Bob & his wife are somewhere in their eighties, since they have been in business since 1955! Click this link, to search for your part, then, e-mail him, to see if he has it:

The flat mainspring for the 9-shot H&R .22 Special is nothing "special". I have "cut to fit" Wolff mainsprings for many years now. They have a quality product, and I'm very satisfied with their springs.
Thanks!
