Ruger P90 Problem
Just picked up a Ruger p90 off of GunBroker in "excellent" shape for a good price. My problem is I discovered that for some reason it will only work single action. I own three other p series pistols and have never had this happen before. I also cannot break it down to see what the problem is. I push the extractor down and try to take the slide off in the usual way but the slide will only come forward about 1/4 inch and stays there. Any suggestions before I return it or take it to a gunsmith?

Hey guys, just got back from firing my P90 and my magazine release completly fell out.. I slide it back in but that's a no go, it just sits in there on the loose side.. So i'm assuming there was something within the gun to hold that inplace to lock in/release magazines. Any Idea's?.. Wondering if this is something i could potentially fix myself or if i have to take it to a gunsmith to have em fix it? Anyways, any suggestions would be greatly apperciated. 0 -
Since you are asking, if I were you I'd take it to someone knowledgeable. Be sure and ask if they have actual experience with your model. Or contact Ruger for a tune up.
Tons of vids on youtube that might help.0 -
I would return it. Some thing is obviously wrong. Sure not "excellent", if it has been screwed with, and can't be field stripped.
Call up the seller. Explain the problem very politely. Make it clear that either he refunds all your money, plus dealer and shipping costs. Or pays for at trip to the gunsmith, to rectify the problem. And make sure there are no other internal problems, with the Ruger.0 -
trigger bar spring. That is usually the issue. Hold the gun up side down with the magazine inserted. Make SURE the gun is empty. See if it will cycle double action. If it does you know it is the spring. But as Ruger has a lifetime warranty send it back to them and they will repair it. 0 -
Returning it to Ruger sounds like a good choice, IF Ruger pays shipping both ways for repairs OR the seller agrees to reimburse you for any shipping charges that you may have to pay.
Otherwise, returning it to the seller will be best.
