Colored Laquer

Some of the gun companies used colored lacquer on their inexpensive stock made from birch, ash ect as it won't reliably take a stain. Does anyone know where to find some. I have looked online and I can't see where the big box stores carry it and the local hardware store has no idea.

  Call customer service at Brownells tomorrow. They carry very extensive selection of stock finishes.

  go to Sherwin Williams and ask for tinted lacquer

  Any auto parts store that sells auto refinishing supplies should be able to get or have on hand lacquer toners. If they have the toners on hand you should be able to get small amounts. I used to stain wood with colored lacquer a lot when we sprayed it all the time. We hardly ever spray it anymore but our jobber still carries it.
