OK :

After much thought and research : I bought a baofeng uv-5r two-way handheld radio !

Anybody here have one ? any suggestions , comments ?

Its supposed to be here today :

A New Toy to play with : besides , it was cheap !

  I have several. Get the programming cable and use the free program CHIRP and your computer to set it up for repeater's. They can work with the cheap walkie talkie non license required radios.
  
  They can be cabled together to make a cross band repeater for non line of sight commo - very handy.

  They are neat little radios. If you aren't a ham, look into getting a commercial GMRS license. It lets your household use the radio for personal or business purposes.

  Got my radio : Its a really neat lil deal :
  
  Programming ( via key pad ) is a 'project' , kind of almost confusing and different that Ive done before ? Thinking bout getting the Chirp program to do it ?
  
  Any suggestions , pointers , tips till then ???
