FEG 9R 9mm pistol
Just picked one up- LNIB, complete with the manual, spare mag, cleaning rod and the original proof test certificate from Dec 1986. Interarms marked, Interarms box. Gun appears unused. Looks like a Browning Hi-Power, double action.
Did a search here and a Google search- not a lot on the R9. Anyone with any input on these Hungarian pistols?

Haven't seen any FEG stuff lately but in the past I have sold and shot the guns in 9mm and .45acp and they were quality firearms. 0 -
Various models made in Hungary, over a 40 year period until 2006. When Fegyver went out of business. First communist block guns, to be imported in quantity to the U.S.
Tis said that Fegyver make exact copies of High Powers, with phony Belgian Browning markings. During the 80's, for sale to Iran and Iraq. During their war.
Early production were knock-off's of High Powers. Later on they started copying Smith and Wesson, internal lockwork. Very interesting collectible guns, because of this. Many variations some made with spurious markings, for sale to 3rd World countries.0 -
The Makarov copy by FEG is almost the least ergonomic handgun they've made. Their Hungarian Stove & Vacuum PP/PPK versions aren't too bad for what they are, but the High Power copies are good.
Imagine what you'd get if Frigidaire made pistols in a Second World country.
I'm surprised they haven't copied the Sig210?!0 -
I have a ppk clone, I like it. in fact, IMHO it actually feel and shoots better than the last ppk/s I owned.
(That ppk/s started doubling on me, it went bye bye to a gunsmith friend)0 -
I saw one at a gun show a few months back. Had a very unique finish on it. Now that I think about it I should have bought it. It was in very good condition and the seller was asking $250 for it. When I got home I had to re-educate myself about it. If it is at the next show I'm gonna scarf it up, unfortunately that won't be until September. 0 -
I have owned a PA63 for about 20 years .Absolutely dependable with any ammo sent thru it .Used it for concealed carry for years .Not fancy or pretty but it never fails to work .If the hipower clones are as good then I for one would like it 0 -
i too have a PA 63 i replaced the springs with Wolf and it has been absolutely dependable and fun to shoot. 0 -
I am more familiar with shotguns than handguns - but I have a PA-63 in 380 and one in 9mm Mak. I also have a Browning High Power and an FEG clone of the High Power. All of the Browning factory and all after market magazines that I have tried fit and function exactly the same in the FEG. The IMI 41A&E conversion kit fits and functions exactly the same in the FEG as it does in the High Power.

I have owned a couple over the years. These are great shooters, dependable and reliable. Take it to the range and see for yourself. 0 -
Thank you all for the info. Took it to the range with an assortment of 115 and 124 gr ammo. Gobbled up whatever I put in a magazine without a bobble. Decent trigger that may get better with some use. Very comparable to my Hi-Power except is double action and a LOT less $$$.
