Colt 1991 Series or Series 70?
Still deciding which (maybe Ruger, Remington, or Springfield, too) and I would like to know your opinions between these two Colt models.

What are you doing with it?
added Full sized 1911A1 in stainless steel with the proper lube would be my choice. Tritium sights would be a nice addition.0 -
The difference that I'm aware of, is that the 1991 has a passive firing pin safety. The earlier Series 70 doesn't.
Likely the Series 70, would be more expensive. But it's possible, to remove the passive safety assembly from the later Colts.
All depends what you want it for, and how much you want to spend? Seems that everybody and their BIL's, are making 1911's now. Don't honestly know, how much better one would be over another? The Colt would always hold it resale value, over the others though. Because it was actually made by Colt.0 -

Recreational shooting and carry when size is not a concern.0 -
in my opinion the model 1991 was a cheaper version "some plastic parts
"
sort of like the Colt cowboy
" as a cheaper version of the colt SAA "
NOT TO MY liking on either of those items0 -
Hello - although I am more familiar with shotguns than handguns - I do have a Colt series 70 that I like. Locust Fork - has a series 70 - gold cup - on the auction side you might like to have a look at. Best Regards - AQH 0 -
I own or have owned all you are referring to.
My choice of Colt would be 70 series hands down.
Of the other three Ruger,Springfield, Remington in that order.
Ruger for cost , general quality, and reliability.
Springfield basically the same but can be pricier without that much
Difference for the extra money, on an apple to apple comparison.
Remington can be found at this time for less then both of the others,
But in my experience it does not measure up to them, should not even
be included in your choosing, but that's just my take after having owned one or more examples of ea .0 -
go series 70 unless you need a special safety[:o)] 0 -
At the advice of several board members, I got a series 70 10+ years ago. Never regretted it.
Gun itself is good, and of course EVERY Colt pistol is a collectors item now, where as non-Colt 1911 are basically commodities.
Colt will continue to go up in value, you'll get complements at the range, and I don't think you'll regret buying one.
