S&W questions
What is meant when they say "A Smith and Wesson pre model 30"? That It's the model that later was called 30?
Also why is knowing that it is a five screw important?

Thx guys I appreciate it. 0 -
Hmmm, I'm not sure. Photo isn't quite sharp enough, & lighting is not too good, but.....it looks to me like the cylinder notch is dished, which would indicate that it has been refinished.
A buyer would also want to see the box label, & the back of the stocks.

As need said, BUT I think it looks good to go. Post a pic of the grips back ect. .It will bring a good buck. 0 -
It appears to have a bit of a turn line, indicating the cylinder has rotated, whether fired or not. 0 -
The 19's were nice to carry, however they would shoot loose with a large diet of full tilt 357's.
Initial fitting varied in quality, some assembled way tighter than others and shot better because of it.0 -
My vote is it's original and "dished bolt" just due to lighting. A close up of the other side with S & W emblem might help. Hopefully the label is "upside down" on the box and the target stocks original. I know Smith boxes are a tight fit, if the gun came with service stocks I don't think the targets will fit.
Is that a trigger over-travel stop in the trigger guard? Can't tell, may be a wrinkle in the paper.
Very nice looking gun.0 -
When I get home from vacation I'll take better pics. I do know is was bought in the early 70's by a guy who passed away in 1980. His wife says it sat in her closet since then. The box has a label and original price tag on it but don't remember if upside down or not. Gun has not been refinished. 0 -
Thanks HPD. I struggle with posting photos. 0
