The AE's = Angle Eject. Were the product of U.S. Repeating Arms, not Winchester. Dating to the 80's. Supposedly the angle eject guns, allowed a low mounted scope and a beefed up action. For the .356 and .307 cartridges. These cartridges were a flop, and quickly were dropped, in a short time.

Because of the angle ejection, and beefed up innards, they are different from the earlier 94's, as you noted. Also the "Ranger" rifles were made as low priced "Store Brand" guns. In light of all these negatives. I wouldn't even try to fix it. Part it out on our auction. Hopefully you will be able to recover, the money you had invested in the trade.

    Try www.elsewhere.com

They have a section on 94's. You might be able to get some info there.
