Whats the difference in a Remington 20 ga. 870 LWT barrel and a Remington 870 20 ga barrel?

  https://support.remington.com/General_Information/I_just_purchased_a_new_barrel_for_my_older_20_Ga._shotgun._It_won't_fit,_why?

  Remington had 3 styles of barrels for their 20 Ga. shotguns..
  
  1. Standard weight, ser. # ending in X or N based on the old style 12 Ga. frame.
  
  2. 20 ga. "LW" ( roll marked as such) smaller frame, ejector mounted inside receiver , short tang...
  
  3. 20 ga. lightweight ( roll marked as such).. same small frame as #2 above, but with long tang barrel, ejector incorporated into tang....
  
  These are not interchangeable...
  
  The receiver for #3 is roll marked as such...
  The receiver for #2 is roll marked as such
  The receiver for #1 has no special markings...
  
  Before you buy a barrel, LOOK AT THE RECEIVER !!!
