Hamilton Model 27 main spring help?
I know it's not exactly a gun that everyone works on regularly, but are any of you familiar with replacing the torsion mainspring in a teeny little Hamilton Model 27 .22 boy's rifle? I Can't figure out how to get the spring into the gun. The hammer and trigger are both held in with a pin, and the spring itself is retained by a tube that fits in the coil of the spring. I'm wondering whether I need to remove the hammer, the trigger, or do some other magic to get the spring legs into place on the hammer and trigger? Ideas?

This guy has some tricks, like cutting off drill bit shanks to make pins etc.. I didn't read or look closely at all his posts and pic's but if he didn't answer your question I'd bet he could. Use of slave pins is common for assembly.
