What year did S&W change from brass shaft brushes to aluminum shaft brushes in the cleaning kit included with a new hand gun?

Not sure, but I'd say around the early 90's when the switched from the finger loop to the straight cleaning rods. I'll see if I can find out a little more for you.

I know in 1982 at the age of 16 I purchased a 629 with a 4" barrel in the mahogany case, and the cleaning rod was Aluminum...still have it.
