    After the First World War, in the 1920's. The Germans changed their proof laws, requiring a date to one of the proof marks. Generally it will be in the format of 3 or 4 numbers. Found on either the "water table", or underside of the barrels. With the other German Proof Marks.

    Simpson was in business from the 1890's, until 1932. The pre W W I, proof marks aren't dated. But you can get a rough idea of the age, because they differ from the later ones.
