Buffalo Classic Frame an SB1 or SB2
Thinking of adding a .243 barrel to my H&R Buffalo Classic action. Would it be an SB1 or SB2 type ? Thanks.

Since I had no replies, I did some more research. I found that the best way to determine if a H&R or NEF action is the stronger heat treated steel SB2 is by removing the stock and inspecting the action where it contacts the stock. If the metal surrounding the bolt hole is solid, the action is an SB1 suitable only for shotguns and mild pistol cartridges, and muzzleloaders. If the area around the bolt hole is slotted (ventilated) the action is an SB2 suitable for higher pressure rounds like the 243 or 30-06. The action on my Buffalo Classic is ventilated at the receiver bolt hole so it's an SB2. It now sports a 20 inch super light youth .243 barrel with sights. I am the proud owner of a Buffalo Class .243 carbine. Looks great and shoots good. 0 -
