I had one made for a Rem 600, that used a ADL trigger guard dispensing of the plastic one. Yep stock needed work inside and out. 0 -
Thank you. Would think for the price they would fit. 0 -
Geri,
You haven't given us nearly enough information about the stock and the barreled action.
I've used probably 150 different H-S stocks for Remington actions and all have been a drop-in fit except for a few with bigger barrels which need to be inlet.
What is the stock model number and where are the fitting problems?

Standard remington 700 bdl, one 223, the other 243. The bottom metal will not fit into the stock, and the barrels are very tight in the channel. I can fit them, but wondered if this was the norm. 0 -
Geri,
You need to check the H-S model number against the description of the stock and the stock inlet. As an example:
PSS003 - Remington 700 BDL Short Action Rifle Stock $435.00
Fits: Remington 700 short action right hand BDL with sporter/hunting barrel contour. This traditional hunting stock features a full-length aluminum bedding block with standard forend and pistol grip.
(Stock color shown - Olive/Black)
This indicates that this model will accept the smallest diameter factory sporter barrel as a drop-in. The barrel channel is not cut for the larger diameter varmint/sendero or magnum barrel channels. If you have one of the larger factory or a non-standard, non-factory barrel, alterations will be required or you can return the stock and order the one for a proper fit.
H-S offers 3 - essentially different types of bottom metal; ADL (trigger guard only), BDL (hinged bottom plate for unloading) and their own detachable box magazine system.
Factory BDL parts will drop-in to the standard Remington 700 inlet without trouble. There may be a very slight tightness to the fit but that's better than a sloppy fit.
Now, if none of this is true in your case, you either have alterations to your barreled action or H-S managed to send you the wrong stock for your barreled action. Here is the list of stocks and descriptions to compare with what you received:
