pietta 1858 sheriff
I got a 1858 sheriff .44 caliber in from Cabelas with leather holster and spare cylinder and the Cabelas .44 caliber black powder revolver starter kit
any advice before I go shooting
I have shot muzzle-loading rifles for many years but this is my first black powder pistol
I posted in the GD side and just got smartass answers
thought I might get good advice over here

take some rubbing alchohol or windex to wipe pistol off if it starts to gum up, you can swab the barrell and cylinder with the alchohol and it will evaporate by the time you load. cheap easy field cleaning to keep you shooting. 0 -

is this what I need to shoot 45 Long colt instead of black powder loads
is this a good price or the going rate for them[?]
just asking before I buy0 -
Yes, that is a cartridge conversion cylinder. The plate on the back contains a firing pin for each chamber. To load and unload you have to remove the cylinder and take the plate off. 0 -

yes, if you google conversion cylinders for remington copies there are two types one has firing pin for each cylinder, the other rotates, I have been watching for a used on to come up at one of the local gun shows, just hate to put out that much money for plinking, one of these days though.......0 -

I still think it's a good idea to use black powder or pyrodex in a black powder revolver even when using a cartridge conversion cylinder. 0
