Pre ban Glock magazines
The gun is gone, but I have some accessories left over that I'm thinking about listing. If these 2 mags are worth a little more, I'll sell them separate.

Those are Gen1 “U lip” mags.
And they are/were valuable, I just don’t really know if there is much of a market there.
Really the only guys who want to pay a premium for a Glock mag, may not want it to have “Gen1” written in sharpie on it.
Last- I don’t believe there is a one size fits all answer on legality by state/grandfathering these mags in.
If someone asks you to take them apart and mail them in pieces, they are probably breaking a “law”.
Glock mags are about to get real popular with the 9th circuit court ruling mag capacity limits are unconstitutional.

They have value over par in a handful of states where the 1994 Crime Bill remains in effect. These states grandfather magazines produced prior to 13 September, 1994. Massachusetts is one such state. 0 -

These being first generation mags means they were manufactured between 1982 and 1988 from what I am finding online. I do not see any date codes on them.

Not a lot of action on those starting prices, but I see someone is on the hook for a $98 mag.

I listed some "Preban" Glock Mags a while back.....I got 100.00 for a G19 with the factory +2 base. The gentleman that purchased it was from a State where there were no issues with ownership or shipping it there....I was overrun with several folks from Mass and received bids from them even though I said in the listing NO sales to Mass...as well as CA, NJ and any other
restricted states...some were downright rude demanding that I accept a copy of their CC permit claiming it made it legal for them to purchase and own the magazines...
My reading of their law led me to believe they had to own the Preban mags before the 1994 date. I refused to continue the auction and have not tried to list them again....I may be wrong on my interpretation of their law but I will not take a chance with it....0 -
The earliest Glock mags did not have a full length metal sleeve inside. When loaded up they would not drop free from the pistol. The polymer would swell a bit from catridges pushing against the sides. (another way to tell pre-ban) In your second photo the mag on the left appears to be sleeveless while the one on the right looks like it has a full length sleeve. (seen in witness holes) 3 -

I only have the mags left over so I can't do a drop out test. I can tell you that both of the pictured magazines have the full length metal liner, one just lines up much better with the holes. Again, thanks for the info & education... I'll plug the auction if I decide to list them. 0 -
Honest question: if a metal sleeve is needed, why not make the entire mag out of metal? 0 -
I've had several of the U notch mags over the years and have sold quite a few on Gunbroker. Funny thing is, the 45 ACP mags do not go as high as the 9mm or 40 S&W mags. The 10mm mags are hit and miss though. When i start the 9 or 40 mags at a penny i have been pleasantly surprised many times. The 10mm, and more so the 45, not so much. 0 -
