I WAS FREAKED OUT

Tonight about 2-3 hours ago my phone battery went dead. this doesn't happen often because I have several chargers either in my vehicle or my house or any other place I go. But I was away from a charger for too long and it died.

So when I got home I plugged it in and there's a little light that flashes when it's charging. It wasn't flashing.so I figured no big deal tomorrow I'll go down and get a new phone and tonight I'll dig out one of my old alarm clocks.now mind you I usually wake up about an hour or so before I need to and the time I have my alarm clock set for.

And all of a sudden it hitn me!!! The information that I need, not only phone numbers and photos, but everything else including the information I need for work is stored in my phone (I don't own a computer)... I went into a panic about it, of course I did try different Chargers and different chords to make sure it was not the charger cords and it still didn't show it was charging. Now I'm sitting there thinking how in the heck am I ever going to get this information that I absolutely need out of my phone comma because I know to transfer the information from one phone to another, you need to be able to turn on the phone...

so I let it sit on a charger for a while in hopes it would start charging. still didn't show it was charging, now I know that they have to be able to turn on a phone to retrieve the information that a person has stored in the phone, and again I was still panicking.

So I decided to try to turn it on to see if that helped to make it start charging. I know if it wouldn't start charging right away it would turn off right away again, but I turned it on and I heard the tone it gives when it's charging, so I set it down gingerly so that I didn't inadvertently bump it to where it wouldn't charge anymore for a little while. I looked at it and I noticed the light that indicates that it's charging when the screen is turned off wasn't flashing like it usually does...

Wow... All that worrying for nothing just because the light that flashes when it's charging is burned out... My heart started beating again[:D][:D]

after that scare, I am going to have to figure out a way to backup all this information, just in case my phone does take a turd on me...

I'm a happy camper again[:D]

    You're absolutely right, electronics are more fickle than a female.

    And all the information that I have for work is written down on a piece of paper, but it would take me probably 8 hours to sort through it all, world only takes me a minute or two on my phone...

    My phone does have a slot for a mini SD or CD card or whatever it's called. As soon as the stores open in the morning I am going to get the biggest capacity CD or SD or whatever they're called card that I can put in it, and download all that information to it. That way if my phone does take a turd, I can just pull that card out of my phone and put it in a new phone and be up and running again...

    You might be able to use the ?cloud?. I don?t like the cloud and I won?t use it until I absolutely have to, but since you don?t have a computer to use for backup the cloud might work for you.

    You won?t need the largest SD card they make. You can probably put all the knowledge of mankind on a 64 GB card and they go bigger than that now.

    Phone is backed up on computer, and an external 2 terabyte hard drive.

    Takes just minutes.

    if it were filed properly by names, jobs, payment, ect,,,, it wouldn't take 8 hours to sort it out. no more than a couple minutes to find whatever you want, and short of a fire never have to worry about power loss of anykind except yourself.........[;)] we got by the last one hundered years on paper records it ain't that hard

    Yesterday I was taking a shower in the TA truck stop. I dropped my phone on the tile floor, the back popped off and the battery popped out.
    I was nervous. I put the phone back together, and it would not come on. Now I was in a state of panic.
    Now I am in the Dark Ages I have a flip phone but it is a great phone.
    Today, you cannot drive a big truck if you don't have a phone.
    At many of the terminals, you go inside, give them your phone number, and you go wait in the yard until they call you to come in. Might be a half hour might be 2 hours.
    Plus I talk to dispatch at least once a day on the phone.
    Of course talk to my girlfriend and friends.

    It would be bleak to be out here without a phone. So I got back to the truck and plugged the phone in to charge, it immediately came back to life. Thank God.

    It is filed properly, but that's in the office. I'm always having to field... And if I took what I thought I needed for the day, I would be always something that I didn't grab...what I was married, it was no big deal. I would just call and get the information for my wife. But when she died, that also went out the window. And I just don't see the point of hiring a secretary full time just in case I needed her to look up some information. Just not cost effective.... Because I do everything else before work, after work, are headlights time that I would have a secretary do...

    If you're going to back up using the cloud, it can take a long time to get it there. Maybe all night. I lost a bunch of stuff I really wanted by getting impatient.
