Looks like we lucked up and got out of Seattle just in time about a week and a half ago.
We came across the mountains in Washington on Hwy 2 over to Spokane and then took I-90 to Sioux Falls. We took I-29 from Sioux Falls down to Kansas City and then I-70 to St. Louis and then I-64 to I-57 on to I-24 to I-75 to Home in Hampton, GA.
That was about 2,700 miles. We saw some snow on the mountains and on the sides of the road but none we had to drive on. I had my chains with me just in case.
As I mentioned in another post we were on I-24 near Chattanooga when the motor started knocking in our 2013 Hyundai Sonata. We had to limp on home taking it easy the last 130 miles. We lucked up because the knocking in the motor was a recall item for our model car and we got a new motor installed for free at the Hyundai dealer.0 -

about an inch+ ...just enuff to coat things at 28*......lot of soybeans, corn not cut and wheat left to plant......with up to 8" rains before this....came in Oct 14 , same day in 1994 when we had a blizzard of wet heavy snow..had 3 circles of irrigated milo and it broke most of it over...bought a row head for the combine and rebuilt it in the shop and it stayed wet and cold all winter and i finally managed to harvest it 6 months later..cold weather kept it from molding and i took 100 bushels an acre with no dock to the elevator...farming was FUN ???...never again 0 -

3", last night. Outside of Showlow. Been livin here, 10 yrs. now. First time, I ever seen it snow in Oct. Heading out soon, to the desert. To freaken old, to be shoveling snow.
Looks like it's going to be a good winter though, for precip. Bout time, the drought has been really bad. Forests were closed for shooting. For the first 2 1/2 months. I was up here.0 -
Weather is weird in Wyoming
I was working in Green River Wyoming in June 1977. It had dumped 3 feet of snow overnight the night of June 16th through the early morning of June 17th...
3 FEET OF SNOW IN THE MIDDLE OF JUNE.
I remember this vividly because the 17th was a Friday, and we're going to go home to Utah after work that day, we were snowed in though and couldn't go home. I had to call my new wife (we are married on June 19th 1976) and tell her that I would not be home for our first anniversary on June 19th[V] she had a hard time believing it, and asked me if I really cared about her. I told her to call Wyoming Department of Transportation to confirm that Green River was snowed in and all the roads were closed in and out of the city. She called me back about 20 or 30 minutes later, and apologize for not believing me...
We made up for it the following weekend after being away from each other for 2 weeks, and 9 months later had a baby..[:D][:D]0
