Whoopee, getting annexed.

Lived here 20 years and I expected it before now. City tax will be about $700 per year, more than double county tax, and car tags will take a big increase. Death and taxes.

    Are you talking about property tax increases beneteau? Or additional taxes to the city and county?

    My old home town annexed a big chunk of land into the city limits about 20 years ago. They missed my property because I was on the north side of the road. Across my roads centerline to the south was the new city limits. All of the people within these new boundaries had to give up their water wells and get hooked up to "city water" along with the expense's to do so and a monthly water bill to boot! Property taxes were also re-assessed and increased substantially to match the city's programs.

    The funniest thing I found and because I was not affected, was that in order for the annexation to have happened, voters had to approve it. The squiggly lines the city drew up did not follow the roadway map and went around many of the residence's that would have been able to vote but couldn't because they were not within the annex area!

    Additional. We already pay county property taxes.

    That will be $700 to start however you'll be much better off living in the city.

    When I got annexed I didn't get to vote, my property tax went up over $1000.00 a year, and I was able to get a library card.

    sound like I'm in your boat, I am 3 houses from city limits, rest of street was annexed to get in city for walmart who built about half mile away, was part of their deal to get fire, police in city limits. only gain I could get from neighbors was fire insurance went down on homeowners insurance. still didn't make up for the addition on city taxes, trash, fire/police fee and floodwall fee. maybe a $75 dollar year savings on homeowners, cost probubly on average $75 a month for city priveliges not even trade in my eyes

    you illustrate why I live way out in the weeds about 10 miles from any city government. I pay $1074 a year for my home three buildings and 60 acres.

    They must need money. Oklahoma City limits start about 20 miles from town.

    Seem many times when DEMOCRATs gain control. They want to steal more money so they annex. Then they annex more. Worse in cases where cities unionize.

    In many cases property taxes are elevated to the point where property values plummets as people move away. DEMOCRATS in turn describe such behavior as racist.
