My Dillon 550 is going back! Update! Its back!
The press was gone 8 days including shipping both ways!
Of course since I bought a 650 in those 8 days i have to decide what to do with this dude and all my 550 accessories but its a good problem to have.
I have pumped out alot of rounds on my 550 but it was getting long in the tooth and taking more and more maintenance, with higher and higher occurrences of issues.
I called Dillon, much to my surprise a human answered. 5 minutes later I had an RMA number and im shipping it back and theyre gonna rebuild the whole thing!
I need to pump out about 1,200 rounds and it will go out this Friday.
Turn around time is 2-3 weeks.

Steve who answered the phone, after the second ring to the parts line did a fine job of customer service. I was expecting to pay for the parts I needed. Nope, they are shipping a complete, new, primer feed assembly at no cost. No BS involved. The only other company I've found that has a warranty like this is RCBS. 0 -

Dillon won't warranty their tumbler motors. It doesn't mean I refused to deal with them. The paperwork included with the chargemaster states it has a limited warranty as follows,
Limited Warranty Electronic Products:
ChargeMaster Scale/Combo/Dispenser, RangeMaster Scale, AmmoMaster Chronograph
Electrical Products:
Trim Pro Power Trimmer, Trim Mate Case Prep Center, ProMelt Furnace, Sidewinder Case Tumbler, Vibratory Case Cleaner, RASS Bench RASS Accessories.
They are up front about the limited warranty, and it did result in me not buying one.0 -

Had good luck with both. I busted some RCBS parts and contacted them to get replacements even told them it was my fault. They took care of me and just shipped them out free.0 -

The Chargemaster's problem isn't with the electronics, it's with the plastic casing they used. It reacts with the powder within a matter of a couple of hours making it stick to the case and then become embedded. I noticed this when I was done reloading the first time after a 4 hour session and it couldn't wipe all the powder off to empty it. I thought it was static, but nope, they were embedded in the plastic. This is a design flaw that seems to be very prevalent out there (read about it on google). RCBS' answer? You're chit out of luck. I have spent thousands on RCBS reloading stuff and still use them. I admit that they have great quality. But the one and only time I had an issue they left me hanging. That leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. I haven't spent a dime on their stuff since.0 -

I Have to agree with you and the Chargemaster. OK if it breaks in the warrantee period, they will send a replacement unit, but after that, you are screwed.
About a year or two ago, I had a long email chain between myself and RCBS about who can repair for the Chargemaster and they made it clear they do not repair them and they know of no one who does. Unbelievable from RCBS. They are great units when they work. I know of several acquaintances who has failures out of Chargemasters and they trashed them.0
