A Southern Country Boy Lunch
This morning I went to Wally World to get dog food.
I wanted some kielbasa for lunch too.
Going through the meat aisle, I spied the round white containers that scream Chicken Livers! I still got the kielbasa, but a pint of fresh chicken livers too.
I have a six inch cast iron frying pan I fry them in and a package of Kikkoman tempura flour I bread them in
These livers must have come out of Rhode Island Reds, they were huge! I only fixed four and they filled me up. Salt and pepper was the only thing I put on them. Home brewed iced sweet tea was the beverage of choice.
A couple of weeks ago I stopped at Churches to get livers. Cornmeal breading just don't cut it. The dogs got most of them.
Mine were tender, tasty, and hot. [:D]

I had a huge mater sandwich.
Bread lightly toasted
Mayonnaise applied liberally
Better boy Tomato out of my garden sliced thin
Salt/pepper
A little fresh Thyme and basil out of the garden chopped and put on the tomato.
Small drizzle of Reduced balsamic vinegar.
It was like eating sunshine0 -
Too hot in the garden now for tomatoes. The store bought ones are like cardboard and taste like it too. When they are in, I just cut them into eighths with salt and pepper. A dollop of mayo and a fork.

Never seen tubs of chicken livers at Wal Mart. Not that I looked but I imagine one near me would have the frozen ones. That's only good for catfish bait. If deep fat frying wasn't so damn messy I would be a much bigger man.
I'd be like a true Scots man by deep frying everything. Deep fat fried Pay Day with deep fat fried ice cream. I'd be HUGE. Like a 6'3" 500 pound Sumo contender. But since I don't so I'm just a runt at 240 [:D].0 -
We had a Caprese "Salad" - nice thick slices of Tomato, topped with a slice of Mozzarella, then a big Basil Leaf. Balsamic and EVOO, Kosher Salt. Yumm! 0 -
I do eat chicken livers on rare occasions but my yummy meter pegs out on chicken GIZZARDS![:p][:p] 0 -

Yeah deep fried Gizzards are good but chicken hearts are great. Skewer them and grilled over charcoal but they never put enough in the chicken gizzard and heart package.0 -

You and I would have to arm wrestle for 'em, Yosh. No, wait. You'd win. Love chicken livers and gizzards, but THE prime bit is the heart.
SWMBO fixes what she calls a big breakfast on Sundays. Then she skips lunch. I had to have a plate of simple nachos and a brewski midafternoon to hold me over. I'm grilling some sockeye salmon this evening to make up for my lunch loss.0 -

You'll need gravy to choke down that white meat. Hell you might wanna make the eggs sunny side and extra runny just incase the gravy ain't enough [:D].0 -
