It should never have gotten this far since nearly everyone in the Administration would have been told about the concept after someone saw the band practice. These performances are not dreamed up on the spot, they take planning and practice. Lots of other folks knew about this ahead of time and let it pass. The the band director AND the principal need to be fired not just put on leave without any repercussion or penalties. This needs to be addressed immediately and with certainty so that this type of idea never gains traction again. Swift punishment is called for. Fire them then Blackball them from education.

Most certainly. Back in the dark ages (when I was in high school band), a good 1/2 time performance required several weeks of prep and practice on the field to get it right.0 -
I may be wrong, but looking at the pic, IMHO, it is nothing more than a political statement. An attack targeting ARs and Second Amendment rights.
Agree with Nononsence as well as the governor.
The NFL has lost a considerable audience because of politics. IE: Krapperstink and kneeling. It is a sad state of affairs when politics permeates high school sports too.0 -
I wonder what they were trying to portray and what message they were trying to send. My guess is they failed and the act did not send the message they intended. A half time show isn't the type of setting that allows for artistic expression of complex sensitive subject matter.
My guess is this wasn't intended to be anything like what it was viewed as. Any faculty involved should know this was going to be messed up and should have never been attempted. Yes, they should be fired, but mostly for being to dumb to be in the position.
I'm sure more information will be available. I hope I'm right and the message sent by the performance wasn't the one intended. One is bad judgement, the other is bad intentions.0 -

Those 'kids' with the firearms should have elicited a response by LE. They brought forearms to a school function. They need to be arrested, charged with bringing a firearm onto school property, and expelled.

Looking at the Photo something like that could have been thought out planed and even executed in a couple of seconds.
