Anderson AR lowers.

35 Whelen
A LGS has them for around $50, and CMMG LPKs for $40-$45. Thinking I might toss something together, and never dealt with the Anderson brand previously. Good to go?

    Personally, I think Anderson is top notch. They have some really tight QC from their products I have seen and shot. I say go for it. [:D]

    I have a few and I think they are the ones who thread the spring area(s) so you can drop in the spring top it off with a set screw so no more PITA while assembly or disassembly , I did not use the feature on mine in the initial builds next time there down for cleaning I will add the set screws
    it was a neat idea

    maybe Brownells or Midway I bought them 49.00 each that was 3 years or so ago

    Thanks for the input, guys. I'm glad to hear the quality is good. Now, do I go 16" or 20" for a barrel? Think I'll probably go shorter this time around, just for something different. I'd prefer another A1 upper, but would be just fine with a A2.

    Anderson gets trashed on most of the AR forums for poor QC and out of spec lowers. Not sure how much of it is speculation or actual problems. It seems in this day and age people parrot comments and experiences when they have never actually handled one. PSA gets the same mistreatment as being poor quality junk...rifles for the "poors" so to speak. I'd say $50 is pretty good at an LGS, considering there is no additional FFL fee. Enjoy!! The Dems want to out law home assembled rifles so now is the time to get to it.

    Before my very cooperative LGS folded, I bought a bunch of Anderson lowers. Not a single one caused any problems with assembly or function. A couple get some pretty hard use and the finish is holding up well. Mags of all types/brands fit fine. Detent spring recesses were clean and free of excess finish or debris(not so with other economy brands). Fitment with various brands of uppers has been good(also not so with some other economy lowers).

    I have 6 Anderson lowers on completed ARs and they work as good as my Colts and Bushmasters. The kits I have had work perfect in them.

    Cant begin to tell how great Anderson as well as PSA lowers are. Just about every custom or home built AR I have seen is surrounded by one of their lowers.
    My experience with them has been great and they are at least 1/3 the price of name brands.

    I have yet to hear anything negative about an Anderson or a PSA lower other than them being the least expensive.

    LGS I work I at is gas the biggest selection of ar parts in our area We sell the Anderson stuff . Have had 0 complaints or returns on them . Great product

    So does that mean AR lower prices are on the up swing? Is it because the dem took the house?

    I just bought a complete rifle with an Anderson lower. Most of my Magazines are Colt mfg. they all work in my Colt AR but some will not lock in place in the Anderson . What could cause this to happen ans is there a fix ? Thanks

    I was actually trying to find an Anderson lower locally last month. Had to settle for an ATI lower after checking 3 shops.

    Over on AR15.com Anderson lowers are fondly called "Poverty Pony" receivers for the running horse logo.

    35 Whelen, I'm really digging my PSA Pistol AR15's. Really light weight, handy feeling, and reliable.

    Picked up the lower today. Let the fun begin.[:D]

    The shop has a few bins of misc parts, labeled "make an offer", so I dug around a bit. Man, is that ever fun! Found a complete A2 carbine forearm (with the delta ring, barrel nut, and springs), FN 6-position stock, A2 front sight, and an A2 grip. $15 for the works. Didn't think that was a bad deal at all.[:)]

    They had a bunch of LPKs, but none with the FCG parts.

    It sounds like they get in A1 and A2 uppers occasionally, so I'll have a good excuse to keep checking back with them. Like I needed an excuse.[:)][;)]
