Windows 7 Q

Just to be certain, isn't Win7 program stored the hard drive?

I keep getting popups saying my version of Win7 isn't genuine.
I know for fact it is because the hard drive I'm using in this Dell came out of my Lenovo that I bought new in 2010.

This damn popup comes up repeatedly, and is irritating as all hell. Can't help but think they are trying to extort money out of me by purchasing an upgrade to something else. It's especially irritating when I'm watching movies on youtube and have to get up several times and cross the room to close the popup.

    If you get updates from Microsoft, your license is genuine. If you are running the hard drive out of another computer, the license is not valid. You have to go to Microsoft and revalidate with the code off the Widows 7 sticker on the computer you're using

    Most of the Microsoft support for windows 7 is gone,, they want to force you to upgrade.. I HATE windows 10

    Agree, that is why I went back to the overpriced but extremely stable and functional MacBook Air and relearned Apple systems after a 15 year hiatus using Microsucks until 10 sent me back to Mac.

    I was getting a similar pop up with Win 7 as a result of a virus. Problem solved after running an anti virus.

    That's what I've found. "Page can't be found" they're trying to extort money out of me on a win10 upgrade.

    It's irritating, but from what I've read so far not as bad as win10 nightmares.

    Sounds like a. Iris or malware. MS doesn't. Are what version you run.

    You do have to plan to be off of Windows 7 by early January of 2020.
    That is when MS quits writing security and all other patches for WIn 7.
