I've had a fairly short list for some time. Each time I say OK I'm going to bite the bullet & pay what I thought was too much I discover they have gone up again. Top of the list is a Winchester Model 42 skeet gun. At this point I may settle for any Model 42. Problem now is even if I got one I can't afford .410s anymore & I can't get the crimps to hold on the @$*^ plastic shells. 0 -
I always wanted a AR-10 until I got one.It always felt heavy and clumsy compared to an AR-15.I sold it back when the Hillary threat sent prices through the roof. 0 -

I'm lucky enough to own 2 Model 42's. One Field model and a Deluxe straight Grip, Solid Rib, Beaver Tail Fore end, Skeet Model.
My Dad had both of them. He bought the Skeet model from a co worker in the mid 60's for $40.00!!
"Ron" asked my Dad if he was interested in buying a 410 Winchester pump shotgun? My Dad replied, sure! How muck? And Ron said $40.00.
My Dad handed him the cash and they went and put it in my Dads car. My Dad could barely contain himself when he saw it was a "Skeet Model"!
Later that day another co worker came to my Dad and said, "You know Ron Screwed you on that gun! His Brother in Law only wanted $25.00 for it! My Dad said, if Ron would have asked me what I'd pay for it, I would have said $200.00 or better! So, he didn't really screw me!!
Needless to say, my Dad and Ron never got along well after that.....Honestly, not before that either![8D]

Just for the heck of it I looked at the auction side & found one starting at much less than I am willing to pay & it even has a skeet barrel. Of course by the time I paid the Kalifornia shipping fee, the sales tax, the dealers receiving fee & any DPRK fees it would be much more. The one question that came up was WHY would anyone put a compensator on a .410?0 -

I agree. I'll never understand a Cutts on a Skeet 410 or a recoil pad on a 410!
The Cutts Compensator allowed (allows) the shooter to choose different choke tubes for different 'events'. A full choke on a 410 plays havoc on rabbits, Duck, and upland field birds, yet a 'skeet' choke wouldn't be much good either.0 -

in sealed containers with ammo [:D] that way some day in the distant future ( I hope never but ) some one can dig me up ..say thanks and hopefully take back the country lost some time after my demise ( we know its going to happen )
I had a buddy ( suicide sadly , he lost all hope in his wife and kids and chose to end it ) he was burred with a 410 and a old fishing pole both his dad had bought him when he was just a young kid
it was one of last request, oh and be burred nude same as he came into the world .. they did all he ask at his funeral0 -

First gun I ever bought for myself was a Savage 24 in .22mag over a 20 ga. Traded it a few years later for a 1952 Winchester model 94 in .30-.30. (Beautiful wood.)
Still have the Wichester 94, wish I still had the model 24 .22mag over 20ga. I did treat myself to a very nice Savage model 24V .30-.30 over 20ga. not too long back.0 -
I always think I don't need no more until Walmart puts crazy clearance prices on more guns. Last week couldn't pass up the walnut Marlin 1895G lever gun in .45-70 for $139.00 and even though I already have a Savage 220 slug gun couldn't pass another one up for $249.00. 0 -
There is 2 more that i came up with a Ruger stainless Mk 3 with a bull barrel vented and im buying a friends Uberti Schofield 5 LC.
Some more always come along.
Im almost to the point when 1 gun comes in another will have to go. I have room for 8 more long guns and then i am full.
However i have a lot of cheaper guns i can let go and replace with quality.0 -

Select-Fire was kind enough to link an auction underway here on GB, when we were discussing the .22mag over 20ga. (It was a Ground Hog killer, that was my favorite hunting back then.)
The .30-.30 over 20ga. Is a hard to find combo. from what I've seen, the .22mag over 20ga. is as well. I will get one back one day. Always on the lookout for a nice one.

I have a mod. 42 that had a "Simmons" rib put on it. In my humble estimation a rather inpractical gun but a great part of history. I'd love a 20 ga. Fox but $$$$ just a wish I guess! 0 -

So true...I have one at present, owned one previously and sold it for the same reason. AR-10s make an AR-15 feel like a nimble sports car.
WC has come out with a .300 HAM'R to compete with the .300 black out and they advertise near .308 performance in an AR-15 package. When you start looking into it doesn't appear so.0
