One of the better types of ammo is the Hornady steel case SST bullet hunting ammo.I don't see a problem with steel case ammo in the 7.62x39. I keep a spare bolt just in case but honestly, I don't shoot them that much. 0 -
I picked up this mongrel at a gunshow. It had all the tacticool stuff on it (as pictured) and has since been trimmed down. (Anderson lower, and "Idunno" upper)
It has been beat on almost daily, left outside on the four wheeler once or twice, and has only seen steel cased ammo. I've been burning up lot's of Chinese 1990's and later Wolf stuff. Most has been shot with a Sig suppressor attached, thus generating 10x the fouling mess. It has never been cleaned, a generous spray of CLP from time to time and she's back in the game. It has stayed accurate enough to keep the random vermin down to a tolerable level.(Cottonmouths, armadillos, coons etc.) Not any "match" shooting going on here.0 -
