Interesting clip - worth listening to - good visuals and captioned text...

Federal Air Marshal behaves badly and displays gun to stewardess - demands passenger manifest - does not show badge or id - does not correctly self identify - while in flight...

    Sounds like the flight crew, tower, et al handled this professionally. The FAM must have had a burr up his ... well you guys know the rest. Can we say "power trip"?

    I agree that it looks like the ATC folks and the aircrew and the pilots were well trained and professional...

    I never heard this story from the normal major media news outlets - and as stated I would like to know more about what occurred and what consequences and accountability steps took place...

    I will say that having spent a long time in my gunshop days carrying a ccw handgun on an every day basis that I never "displayed" or showed off my handgun as a form of posturing or a display of authority - and that I was trained and practiced in how to behave and how to respond or act or present credentials if I was in contact with law enforcement officers...

    And that this behavior was damn stupid and and reflects poor training and a poor attitude...

    If anybody knows more details please share with us

    And any LEO's please comment on your training and experience and let us hear how it looks from your perspective

    Oh and it was interesting to hear the pilot / captain of the plane explain to the ATC that he had not been notified / had no idea that there were FAM's on his bird...

    Is the policy or normal procedure to inform the pilots in advance that FAM's or under cover armed federal agents will be on a flight???

    I know almost nothing about the Air Marshal Service and how they operate, but the senior pilot or Captain on a flight is ?in command? with all the authority that implies, similar to the Captain of a ship. His authority and accountability are almost absolute so it seems to me in the interest of efficiency and safety he needs to know everything that?s going on in his aircraft. Besides, to do otherwise would just be bad manners.

    It just seems on its face that there was a comedy of errors - a series of improbable failures that spread out and propagated like ripples in a pond following a thrown stone...

    It was pretty funny - I sent the girls the link to this story and they both essentially had the same reaction - that this was a guy trying to impress the stewardess with his power and get laid by "whipping it out"...

    I simply cannot imagine that this was not a career ending event for the FAM.

    I have flown armed with two other men from my department. The captain was notified of our seat numbers and came back to "visit" during the flight.

    I saw this in the NEWS. The FBI ended up responding to the airport and interviewed the Air Marshal. It sounds like he shouldn't be an Air Marshal, he obviously doesn't have the temperament for it.
