I just bought that Redhawk's twin brother from Locust fork a couple of months ago. Looks real nice but I don't think I need two of them.
Or maybe I should get one of them two holster cowboy rigs and get another 44!![:D]0 -

I have one just like that. I used to have 2 of them but Ricci sold the Blued 7.5 inch hunter here on GB. It went for over 700 which surprised me.
Those are good shooting gun and take heavy handloads in stride.0 -
Just gave my 629 to my nephew as a graduation present from Trooper academy. Beautiful gun, hated shooting it. Looking to replace it with 357 instead. 0 -
I enjoy shooting my smith 29 more but for example the other day shooting some 300 grain bullets with 11 grains of 231 it wouldn't eject I had to tap on the ejector rod,
whereas with the ruger redhawk I don't think you can get enough powder in the case to make one of them do anything funny.
we were heading up north so figured I should try and see if I could hit anything with my bear loads, after about 50 rounds and the web of my hand bleeding I felt like Clint eastwood in "unforgiven" where he just throws the pistol away and grabs a shotgun!
anyway, I decided one man doesn't need six 44 magnums so am selling off the ones that were sitting in the safe.
this one is super clean, if you're a ruger fan you won't be disappointed.0 -

My meat gun is a Ruger Super Backhawk long barrel with a Leupold 2X scope. Had it ported, trigger work done and put as trigger shoe on it. My deer loads are 300 gr. H.P. Hornady's, win. primer and 25 grs. of 296 powder. Set the lead out to second ring. DEADLY. Much easier to shoot than the S&W 29 in my estimation as it rolls back & upward not straight back as the 29 has a tendency to do. 0 -
25 grains behind a 300 grain bullet? that has to be a real handful?
my favorite 44 load is 20.xxx grains of 2400 behind a 240 grain solid, the basic elmer keith load, it's going like 1500 and I can still handle it. a friend gave me a bunch of 300 grain slugs so I was playing around with those and the 231 powder (which is too fast for a magnum) and I have some 300 grain loads running at like 1050 to 1100 fps but that is what was screwing up my smith.0 -

I love the 44 mag and I don't want to say how many I have but lets just say between rifles and pistols its about 18 or so[B)]
I am crazy about 41 mags too.............I am getting out of the 41 mag business though Ricci will be selling them.0 -
