Do you undervote? Why do a hand count?
I do not vote for unopposed candidates. There is no sense in swelling their already oversize egos. They are going to win, it is just my way of saying your head is big enough.
That is considered an undervote in Ohio and is not a big deal. Each office has the vote totals for the candidates and any undervotes listed also. The votes for the candidates added to the undervotes will equal the number of ballots cast.
You are not required to mark every item on a ballot.
Why would a hand recount change anything in Florida? If the entire ballot is marked except for the senate race and every other choice is a (D) are they going to assume intent and give stone face Nelson a vote that was not cast?
If the voter voted for one then scratched the vote out and voted for the other guy well TS. You spoiled the ballot and should have gotten another one to vote correctly, it is not rocket science and is easier than marking a lottery ticket card.
Florida is a voting disaster, folks need to go to jail starting with that wild-eyed party hack incompetent hag running Broward County's Elections. She is a living example of utter stupidity and evil in power.

I allways write in someone I know in that case, I have written in a friend for sect of agriculture about 5 times, he just never seems to win.......[;)] 0 -

Broward and Palm Beach Counties are a disaster.
As Rep. Matt Gaetz said,.... "65 of the 67 counties got it right; it wasn't broken for them, they got it right. Orange County is huge, they got it right. Our most populated county, Miami-Dade, did everything right. This is not a Florida problem. This is a Broward County problem."
Broward county consists of NY/NJ transplants, Hispanics from every chithole banana republic in the world, and assorted 'other' minorities.

I think we need to pass a Federal law, either you vote correctly or it simply gets tossed out. If you are too stupid to check the right boxes toss the vote, no need to try and "determine" the "intent" of the voter.
This doesn't include skipping a vote on an election, but perhaps a box abstain could be added.
The way it works is that any deficiencies perceived or real on GOP ballots are just tossed. Any deficiencies on Dem ballots are all counted for the Democratic candidates. Duh0
