Mac Coin, it was easier to buy bitcoin!
We are breeding stupid for sure, I guess I take some responsibility for even going there.
So I heard about the 50th anniversary of the Big Mac celebration coin. I thought that would be neat to toss into the drawer.
I stopped by the local McDummies and walked up to the register area.
A young lady instructed me in Ebonics that I could use the Kiosk to place my order now. I responded that I could but the Kiosk couldn't answer my question.
I asked if they were participating in the 50th anniversary celebration and giving out the Big Mac coin. DUH?
I rephrased my question and she seemed very confused and frustrated and we decided we needed a manager.
The lone white person behind the counter comes up and I repeated my question.
He responded positively and after he rung up the purchase he reached in his pocket to give me the coin. I asked him if it wouldn't be easier to put them at the register and his response was "Oh no I am afraid they would all be stolen".
I suggested if they issued a specific number of them and accounted them to the number sold but the look explained it, far easier to control the access for him.
Oh well, if you like Big Mac's and care if you buy one you get a anniversary coin and can redeem the coin for a big mac or toss it in your keepsake drawer.

They have great fries when they are fresh and a large coke is just a dollar. Their food in my opinion is much better than Taco Bell. I may indulge once a month. 0 -
If you want a small hamburger you have to order a cheeseburger & tell them to hold the cheese. That's cheaper than ordering a hamburger. The Dollar soft drink is okay but the cost of fries is outrageous.
You used to be able to get two hamburgers, fries & a small coke for a half Dollar & no sales tax. Think what it will be when they start paying $15.00/hr.0 -
Two burgers, fries, and drink for fifty cents? What was gas back then? Nineteen cents a gallon? Wages a buck an hour?
Brother, the cheapest McMeal I can recall was a burger, fries, and drink for eighty-eight cents. And if you added three pennies to your dollar bill, you could get a hot apple pie, too.0 -
I find this incredibly intriguing, especially when you consider the fact the price of big macs is so stable that it is used to determine the purchasing-power parity of global currencies.

All depends if your hungry for a Big Macs. I would go with cigarettes alcohol,chocolate and coffee for trade and they are all legal. [:D]

If you were guessing at the prices of goods and services in gruntled?s post you were incredibly close. The cheapest price I can remember for gas, other than ?gas wars?, was 18? a gallon. I think you hit the minimum wage on the snout, but that was about the time minimum wage went from 75? to a dollar an hour. The average wage for burger joint workers, exempt from minimum wage at the time, was about 50? an hour. McDonald?s menu was HAMBURGER 10?, CHEESEBURGER 15?, FRIES 15?, COKE 10?. If you like catsup and pickles the hamburger was eatable. The French fries were fried in lard and they were great. That was the entire McDonald?s menu. If you wanted a pie you had to wait a few years for somebody to open a Burger King. I call what they serve as fries now ?boiled potatoes?.
If you wanted a good burger and were standing knee deep in cash you could go across the street to Brother?s and get a cheeseburger with all the fixings for 50?. Most people went to Brother?s if they were trying to impress a date.0 -
I remember when the Big mac Combo was 3 bucks with tax. now it's probably 7 something. I wonder if you can tie it with inflation.
hell I remember before anybody had combos. I remember when they first started doing that. also they gave you your food before they took the money, and put the drinks in the bag on top of the food. yep. my jr. high science teacher told us heat rises and cold sinks. asked him is that why they put your drinks on top of your food at burger king?0 -
First time I ate a Mcdonald with fries I got the Monterrey 2 step.
I would rather take my chances with a Reynosa cart on the street : but I do not go to Reynosa because of the ZETAS0 -

It was never about actually eating the Big Mac LOL.
I figured with 6.2 million coins being given out among 14,400 establishments and five different coins that comes to 86.11 of each coin being distributed to each restaurant. or roughly 430 coins per store.
Figure some will come back for a free big mac and some won't, each coin has a distribution of 1.24 million they are rare already
(imagine getting a coin for a free big mac in a low income country and than using that coin in a high income country to actually buy a big Mac!)
Anyway as of right now the coin is worth 4.00 the cost of a Big Mac here.
