white out!

we are 55 miles se of kansas city mo , has been blowing steady all day with 35/ 40 mph gusts cant see across the yard barely can make out the timberline thats just 80 yds to the south. its been a lomg time since we had this kind of a snow. not a lot of accumulation but coming down hard and blowing every which way!just now 34 degrees.

    yepp..just blew thru and cleared off in SC kansas..40mph+ winds and 200' whiteout....lake place in eastern kansas had a shorter dose....called over and asked a neighbor to check house just befoe it hit there...left a thermometer on a table with an LED light on it ...just look thru the window and BINGO..just about 70* inside ....and propane tank was 55%..all is well ....

    I still have memories of living in Dodge City, Kansas as a kid. Specifically, during a blizzard I kept bugging my mom to let me go outside, so she finally relented and suggested that I take the trash out, so I bundled up and out I went, over chest deep in snow and a howling wind! I was able to cut a trail through the snow and dump the trash, but I wasn't sure I'd make it back to the house! I didn't bug my mom about going out in a blizzard again! [:D]

    Yesterday 60 degrees and cleaned up my garden and yard. Today I looked out a couple times, then went back to the couch. Only about 3-4 inches of snow, but the win...???.d and temps in the 20s.[:0]

    Yep that wind and rain the other night must have dropped 2-3 inches in the pool in hours. Took hours to pump the cover off.

    I am 23 mi due east of KC on I 70.exactly same here.
    I live on a golf course and could not see 15 yds down the fairway.

    anyone have a favorite long range forecast site that seems accurate for Kansas ...here in south central Ks i would like to get a reasonable heads up
