I screwed up big time with the computer

I have a MACBook Air. A week or so ago I was looking at something when an ADOBE warning came up about updating ADOBE. Engrossed in other things I thoughtlessly clicked on the update even though I have a full pop up blocker. That was colossal error; ADOBE was updated but it also put searchitnow.global.SSL.fastly. (NET) on my computer.

It hijacks my searches from duckduckgo to BING tracking my movements. I even went to MACbooster 7 to remove it and it is still there, I called to get a refund. When I remove BING from the search engine list the hijacker still uses it and opens searches in BING.

I am going to have to get professional help in removing this malicious crap. This is the first time I have ever downloaded an update from anywhere but the official web site of the software. My blunder, my fault and now I have to pay a stupid tax to get rid of it.

Words to the wise, use pop up blockers, never download anything except from the confirmed maker of the software.

    I have been doing that. The Trojan is well hidden somewhere and all efforts to kill it have failed thus far.

    Does Apple use a registry like Microsoft? That is where nasties are hidden in Windows, registry entries with different names that are near impossible to find.

    Actually, duckduckgo is a "search engine"--not a browser. I use it , too. Got sick of Google.

    Searching the internet, I have read this Malwarebytes software will remove it. It's a free download.

    I've used Malwarebytes for years and never had a problem. Many other forum members also use it.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH for that idea!!

    I had to go to the download for MACS but once I got it installed it found and deleted the Trojans lickety-split. It cost me zero to get-er-fixed right up. I had the premium malware bytes for my old PC and they are AWESOME!

    I wish I had of thunk of that before spending 60 bucks on a MAC cleaner that was useless. I have requested a refund, we will see if I get it. The company has a 60 day no hassle refund guarantee; we will see.

    Glad you found and deleted it. I stumbled into a similar issue with my MacBook Air about 6 months ago. Hijacked my browser to a home page other them mine. I thought I was headed for professional help but was able to google a solution to find and delete it.

    People can bash Macs but I have spent decades using both Macs and PCs and that is the only issue I ever had on a Mac. I have had many more issues on the PCs I have owned.
