Paradise is Burning
Jeeze, just when you think there's nothing left to burn. [V]
Hospital evacuated patients down to Chico and Oroville, and now the whole town is being evacuated. They don't expect the hospital or the town to be there tomorrow. People are running from their cars with the flames right behind them. Fire has already closed the evacuation roads for the people in the fire's path. I have a lot of friends living there, please keep them in your prayers.
High winds are causing the fire to burn the equivalent of one football field every 3 seconds. I'm about 85 miles SW, and there's smoke here already. They expect a firestorm to rip through the town like the one that burned Santa Rosa,Ca.
In the pic, the building on the left is a surgery clinic I deliver to, the orange in the horizon is where the hospital is.

This is a bad one.
Since I posted this, another 15,000 acres have burned, and the wind is not letting up. I just heard that 4 or more people may have been caught in the hospital basement when it went up.
Deadwood, Concow, and Pulga are ashes. Paradise, Magalia, and Parkhill are all in flames, and probably gone by morning.
I was relieved to hear the people I know, that have a home for kids with cerebral palsy, all got out with the kids. Prayers work, thank you!
God help anyone that didn't get out, there's only 3 escape routes, and they're all burning right now. 93,000 people lived there.0 -

Have friends and family who are worried about folks who live there.
Folks did not have time to load up their animals so they let them lose. Seen horses walking down the road. They said they were fleeing but the orange glow in the direction they were going did not look good.
News today is saying the town is gone.0 -
Since my Son works at Kern County Fire Department I am on the news feed for that.

While here in Oregon we only really get the fires and the Odd wind from time to time. The fires are worse cause of their forest Management practices.

The fire started at 6:30am yesterday, it's now at 70,000 acres and has burned all the way down into Chico. San Francisco is over 150 miles SW, and they had to close schools because of smoke. It's 11:30am here, and you can't even tell if the sun came up. 157,000 people evacuated, Paradise and the surrounding towns are gone.
FYI...The whole area is Conservative Republican, even the liberal college town of Chico is a red district, as are all the Sierra counties.
"ye shall reap what you sow"? Liberal tree hugger laws prevent home owners from clearing dead wood and brush around their homes for a fire break. The libs have sown, and 157,000 Conservatives just got reaped.0 -

I agree, but it's typically the same few azzwipes that are always throwing smart ass comments around, and/or they're hating on every freaking thing someone mentions.
